The more I see the outburst on TV or YouTube the more I think it was a marketing ploy set in motion by a few major media players.  First of all, the VMAs have been worthless for the past 10 years.  Hell, I didn’t even think they were still on or maybe I have been confusing them with the Disney Channel’s music awards.  Anyway, I haven’t been the target demographic for quite some time.

Secondly, its a little ironic that one of the first guests on Leno’s new show was an apologetic Kanye West.

I will admit that I’m a fan of Kanye’s music and I do agree with President Obama, in that he is a “jackass.”  But, in my opinion, it was a staged marketing tactic that was intended to become viral, not only on YouTube, but every media outlet possible.  It worked.  I didn’t watch the VMA’s but I looked up the clip on YouTube to see what the buzz was about.  Too bad I was done when I saw it.  I had no interest in watching Taylor Swift on “Good Morning America” or Kanye on Leno.

I would like to hear someone argue the contrary.
