- Use proper grammar and punctuation, and always spell check.
- Don’t post anonymous comments on blogs.
- Social media = collaboration; get in the game.
- True collaboration is key; be a peer.
- Be conscientious, but don’t fear mistakes. Just write!
- “Talk” as if you’re conversing over coffee.
- Be personal and personable.
- Be honest and transparent.
- Research, read, listen…and then engage.
- Organize your thoughts before posting.
- Be concise – 220 words at most if no preset limit is given.
- Break posts into small paragraphs.
- Cross-link when appropriate.
- Always give content credit where it is due.
- Comment on blogs often and thoughtfully.
- Comment back on comments received.
- Let your personality and “voice” shine through.
- Be helpful; let people benefit from your experience and expertise.
- When someone asks a question, answer it first. You can build trust and respect by posting relevant, on-topic replies.
- Be the best resource you can be, but go easy on overt self-promotion.
- Contact someone directly, not publicly, if you think there is real business to be done.
